Change Your Hot Tub Filters Often To Get Tantalizing Water

Many people enjoy relaxing in a spa or hot tub after the end of a work day or on the weekend.  Those who consider the purchase of a hot tub don't normally think about the maintenance that is part of ownership.   If you do own a hot tub then you probably know or will find out soon enough that hot tub filters are one of the keys to maintaining your soaking pleasure.  Following simple filter advice will help with maintaining water quality, reduce strain on the spa's pump and ultimately increase the life of your investment.

Every time you change the water you should change the filter as well.  Most experts will recommend that you always have a spare filter on hand.  That way you can rotate the filters.  While you are using one, you can clean the other.  This is an elementary bit of advice, but there is nothing that can put more of a damper on your plans for relaxation than having to suspend hot tub activities while you are cleaning a filter.

At least every two to three weeks you should thoroughly rinse out your filter.  Use a simple hose to spray off any grime or sediment that has gathered.  If you use your hot tub with a decent amount of regularity, you should give the filter a 24-hour soak in a solution specifically made for hot tub filter cleaning.  Do not use bleach to do the cleaning as it will quickly damage the fibers within the filter.  Leisure Time, Rendezvous and ZorbO products are terrific for filter cleaning.

After the overnight soak, thoroughly rinse out the filter and then let it completely dry out before using it again.  For automatic cleanings one of the accessories that you can purchase is an actual filter cleaner.  One of the more popular of these is the Filter Blaster.  Connect it to the hose, turn on the faucet and let it clean -- in no time the debris build up will be completely removed.

Regardless of your hot tub or spa brand, good filter maintenance is a must.   Dealers of Caldera, Sundance, Balboa or any other brand will emphasize the importance of good hot tub filter care.  And with the amount of money that you spend on some of these brand's higher end models it is crucial that you protect yourself and your purchase.

Again, good hot tub maintenance begins with the filter.  If you neglect the filter, a broken water pump may be the end result.  And replacing a broken pump is far more costly than filter cleaning solution.  Furthermore, an inactive hot tub due to mechanical failure tends to fall into disuse.  The end result can be a decaying $5,000 eyesore in your backyard.  So make the cleaning and regular replacement of your hot tub filters a habit and continue to pamper yourself in the manner you so richly deserve.
